This report was written on Saturday, February 3, 2018. This week’s fishing report is from Ron Bierstine at Oak Orchard Tackle & Lodge, today:
“Temps have been fluctuating… Warm with some melting snow last Wednesday and Thursday and then cold Friday. The weekend forecast was seasonable – around 30°F with some snow showers, with Wintry weather forecast after that. See forecast below.
“Flows in the Oak are hanging in about medium with 2 – 3′ of visibility. Easier drifting conditions than a week or so ago when flows were higher and dirtier. Guys are into some steelhead, a mix of older and fresher fish with an occasional bigger one thrown in. Most action that we’ve heard of has been nearer the dam. Downstream classic spots should have some fair to good action now too, but the reports are quiet from just moderate fishing pressure. All the water is open to fish right now, some snow could make for some slushing and prolonged cold will probably ice back up. Look for over the all lowering flows likely thru next week. The other area smaller tributaries have low – moderate and clear flows with just some spots open. Forecast weather ahead will probably close those waterways back up.”
