Flowing from the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains to Black River Bay near Sackets Harbor, the Black River is a popular tributary because of its public access.
Docks, fishing decks and boat launches are plentiful and easy access from vacation destinations such as Sackets Harbor and Henderson Harbor on the eastern Lake Ontario shore as well as the city of Watertown. Henderson Harbor is the home port for a large, experienced fleet of charter captains capable of taking anglers of all skills onto the lake for a successful outing. The Black River is popular during fall runs and with mid-summer recreational anglers.
